A new tax filing states that a witness told investigators that Routh had left a box at his home, which “contained ammunition, a metal tube, various construction materials, tools, four phones and several letters”.
After learning of the apparent assassination attempt, the witness opened the box, indicated the file.
According to the reports, the letter, addressed to “The World” (El Mundo), expressed: “This was an assassination attempt against Donald Trump, but I failed him. I did the best I could and gave him all the courage I could muster. It is now up to you to finish the job; and I will offer 150,000 to whoever can complete the job”.
On September 15, Routh, 58, took a rifle to the nearby area where Trump played golf at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida. A Secret Service agent shot him after seeing a gun protruding from the tree line several holes before the former president’s position.
At his first court appearance on 16 September, he was charged with two firearms offences, but more serious charges could be brought in the case as the investigation progresses.
The incident occurred weeks after the former ruler survived another attempt on his life at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was wounded in one of his ears by a 20-year-old gunman, shot dead on the spot.
Routh will appear this Monday in bail court and on September 30 will be the reading of charges.
